Mustard leaf, also known as mustard lettuce, is a light germinator. The seeds may be covered with a very thin layer of soil. Better still is to distribute the seeds superficially and press lightly, ensuring contact with the substrate. Mustard leaf is not a lettuce, but it is related to cabbage. You can pre-sow in trays or seed trays, or sow directly in situ.
