Cucamelon

This Mexican cucumber grows well outdoors and needs a trellis to climb on. The small fruits look like mini watermelons. The taste is reminiscent of cucumber with a sour taste. Try to harvest early, then the fruits are the softest. Larger specimens are a bit harder and therefore often more suitable for pickling.

Sowing instructions
Cucamelons or mouse melons need warmth to germinate. It is a dark germinator, so the seeds may be covered a little with soil. Keep moist, but not wet, as this can encourage mold. Cucamelon germinates quite quickly at the right temperature, but remains small for a long time afterwards. Only when they have been in their place for a while do they really shoot up.
