Zinnias are light germinators. It is best not to cover the seeds with soil. Lay the seeds shallowly over the soil, pressing lightly and keeping moist, but not wet. Zinnias need heat. Pre-sow at a temperature of 20 to 22°C or sow outdoors starting in May - when the frost heals are over. It takes about 10 to 14 days for the first seeds to germinate. The warmer they germinate, the faster everything goes.
