Decorative dahlias often have small to very large flowers, whose petals, unlike, for example, baldahlias, are not very compact together. The flowers are rather shaped like a disk, so petals do not touch all the way to the stem and thus do not take on a ball shape. 'Café au Lait' is perhaps the best-known decorative dahlia on the market.
