Sheep wool is currently a waste product in the Netherlands and Belgium. That's why it's now being made into ground cover: the perfect product to protect the soil in your vegetable or flower garden.
Since sheep wool retains moisture and prevents soil evaporation, it is the ideal ground cover. Use it in your vegetable or flower garden, or to start a no-dig bed. Sheep wool also contains nutrients like nitrogen, potassium, and sulfur, providing a perfect boost for soil life. Additionally, sheep wool suppresses weed growth, making it a great alternative to plastic weed fabric.
Want to plant in beds covered with the ground cover? Cut a cross in the fabric and place the plants in it. The soil will dry out less quickly, and the plants won't have to compete with any weeds.
Product Information
- The sheep wool is sourced from the Netherlands
- The roll is 1 meter wide and 3 meters long
- If you use the sheep wool in the soil, it will break down and partially decompose after about 4 to 6 months. If you use the sheep wool on the soil, as a weed suppressant or to prevent moisture evaporation, it will last longer. The fabric will remain intact for more than 6 months, but over time it will become increasingly 'brittle'. Of course, weather conditions also have an impact.
