We are clearly fans of these stunning flowers. The incredible array of colors and varieties ensures they fit beautifully in any garden or on any terrace. Do consider the height and location in the garden. Since some varieties can grow quite large and tall, it's best to provide support. If you have a border with only dahlias, use a net or grid for them to grow through. Drive a stake into the ground at the four corners of the flower bed and one in the center. Lay a grid on top. This way, the flowers can grow through the grid, are easy to harvest, and won't topple over in strong winds.
Dahlias in a pot can be easily supported with a bamboo stake. Place the stake close to the stem and tie it with a piece of string. Dahlias in the border don't always need support. The presence of other sturdy plants creates a natural barrier, so they usually don't require extra support. However, if you notice certain varieties growing very tall, you can easily place a bamboo stake or sturdy branch next to the dahlia.
