Helianthus annuus 'Taiyo'
Traditional yellow sunflower, with a dark brown/black heart. Doesn't branch very much, but will reward you with a big flower. Very attractive to bees, bumblebees and butterflies, also suitable for picking.
Sowing instructions
Sunflowers are easy germinators. They are dark germinators, so you may push the seeds into the soil a little, so that they are covered with some soil. Keep the soil moist, but not wet. You can pre-sow them in trays or pots, but you can also just sow them outdoors from late April and early May. Tip: alternate sowing periods. Sow some in May, some in June and finally one last time in July. Then you will have flowers all summer, until when the night frost makes its appearance.
