Tomato 'Black from Tula'
Black from Tula is one of the first tomatoes I ever grew. And she still does not disappoint after all these years. Dark red flesh tomatoes that have a green/brown collar at the top. Must be threshed.
Sowing instructions
Tomatoes are light germinators that, unlike many others, you may cover with a thin layer of soil. After all, soil also lets a little light through. Pre-sow from March, not earlier. Do so in seed trays, pots or seedling trays. Keep moist, but not wet. Tomatoes germinate quickly at 18 to 20 °C, usually after 5 to 7 days.

Black from Tula is een biologisch vleestomaatras met donkerrode tot bijna zwarte vruchten en een karakteristieke groen‑bruine kraag bij de kelk. Het is een variëteit die ik zelf al jaren kweek én nooit teleurstelt.
Waar komt deze bijzondere tomaat vandaan?
Het zaad komt oorspronkelijk uit Oekraïne (familie-erfgoed), via Rusland, en dook in 1996 op via de Seed Savers Exchange
Hoe groot worden de vruchten, en hoe smaken ze?
De vruchten wegen meestal tussen 200 en 400 gram en zijn licht afgeplat. De smaak is rijk, aromatisch en lichtzoet met een rokerige ondertoon — helemaal onweerstaanbaar in salades én sauzen.
